How do I calculate the angle of Inclination for a specific location on the Earth? The only Information I've got is the longitude and latitude in degree, so I do not understand. I now I=arctan(Z/H) if I have three components X(=north), Y(=east) and Z(=down=vertical intensity). But then, how do I calculate the vertical intensity from what I've got? I would need to get all three components, but I do not now how these are calculated. I tried to fiend it on google, but I only got a bunch of calculators, which do not explain what is happening. Can someone help out?

Can you expand a bit. Isn't the angle of inclination just 90 - the latitude? –  John Rennie Nov 13 '12 at 12:56

Are you talking about the magnetic inclination at the surface of the earth? Or the inclination of the surface of the earth itself? –  Kitchi Nov 13 '12 at 13:44
