Earlier this week, a friend was showing me how to solve the angular part of Laplace's equation in spherical coordinates by considering traceless symmetric tensors and how it connects to spherical harmonics.

I would be grateful if someone could suggest me a book where I could read more about the topic.

Hi dutra - asking for where you can read more about something is not really a good question for this site. But if you have a particular question about how to solve Laplace's equation using tensors and spherical harmonics, you can edit your post to ask it directly and it will probably be a much better question. – David Zaslavsky♦ Oct 12 '12 at 4:41
