I've designed a speaker stand, that I would like to build myself. However, I am a little unsure if the design is sturdy enough, or if it needs further improvements. Is there a free software, which I could use to simulate how the stand would behave under certain conditions? For instance how the system behaves when it is excited with a certain frequency.

I haven't found anything suitable so far using google. Do you know of anything I could use for that?

Here are a few rough images I made using sketchup to give a quick impression of what I have in mind: http://imageshack.us/gal_old.php?g=842/stand1x.png

You will need a finite element simulation program. There are a number of free ones, e.g. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_finite_element_software_packages – Alexander Sep 14 '12 at 22:44
