My sister asked me what can be the list of the greatest discoveries in physics so far. I want to give the top 20 discoveries. What should they be?

Question that request the construction of a Big List are off-topic, with a few exceptions made on meta. This is a policy on most Stack Exchange site. The FAQ says "You should only ask practical, answerable questions based on actual problems that you face". – dmckee♦ Sep 13 '12 at 14:46
