This is more a chemistry question but I am hoping somebody here can help be anyway:

I am looking for a Hydrocarbon (CH) solvent with the following characteristics:

  • fast evaporating
  • ideally evaporates without residue
  • application: homogenizing styrene polymers powder
  • less toxic and more readily available is better

@Qmechanic are you sure about cyclohexane? That doesn't make much sense to me, I was guessing hydrocarbon (i.e. methanol, ethanol etc.) – user2963 Mar 16 '12 at 1:12
@zephyr: Indeed, CH usually means $C_xH_y$ – Manishearth Mar 16 '12 at 1:39
belongs on the nonexistant chemistry.stackexchange.com. Which is nonexistant, so just close as off-topic. – Manishearth Mar 16 '12 at 1:40

Note that the proposal for Chemistry is well advanced. If you haven't signed up you could lend your commitment to move it along. – dmckee Mar 16 '12 at 3:29
@dmckee done that long back. I enjoy chemistry(usually), and I feel that its an enormois hole in SE. Signed up the minute I discovered Area51 :). Are you closing this? – Manishearth Mar 16 '12 at 4:12
