What's the physics behind this joke?

because its happening backwards? – lurscher Sep 23 '11 at 21:32
it's because tachyons don't drink – Mark Eichenlaub Sep 23 '11 at 21:57
Is this really off topic? it's a physics joke about some physics principle that moving faster that c means time going backwards, according to one answer. – Physiks lover Sep 23 '11 at 23:30
Can we do this in meta? I would answer it like 50 times lol. – Alan Rominger Sep 24 '11 at 0:18
You can ask whether this question should be on topic or not on meta, but the question itself is off topic on meta. Physics Chat would be a good place for it though. – David Z Sep 24 '11 at 3:52

Tachyons are (hypothetical) particles which move faster than light, and thus go backwards in time.

Aha! I looked at the poster as a whole, not realizing it was meant to be read from top to bottom – Physiks lover Sep 25 '11 at 15:55
